A Brief Introduction of Segment Display

Seven Segment Display: A seven-segment display (SSD), or seven-segment indicator, is a form of an electronic display device for displaying decimal numerals that is an alternative to the more complex dot matrix displays.　Segment display (7 segment LCD), also called static LCD or glass LCD. It is monochrome LCD display, with elements on the panel being set into several parts, be it visible (turned on) or invisible (turned off). This is one of the original displaying techniques, also one of the most popular displaying types. Segment display features the advantages of low cost, high contrast, low consumption, easy controlled and customized. 

As for its applications, segment display is widely used in UPS, inverter, digital clock, electronic watch, calculator and many other digital devices for displaying digital information.
